Designer Profile: Alvar Aalto

Alvar Aalto Bio:
Alvar Aalto, born in 1898, was a Finnish architect and designer whose designs are characterised by the use of organic forms. With a strong Scandinavian design outlook, Aalto was one of the earliest exponents of Organic Design. A keen experimenter, Aalto often tested out new techniques such as the bending of wood, wood lamination and processes in mass production. Such experiments lead to Aalto's revolutionary chair designs of the 1930s.
