A couple of months ago, Milan Direct got to meet with fantastic Sunshine-Coast artist Anita Pettinato.
Anita supplied all the artwork for the Big Brother 08 House and funnily enough, she is the reason Milan Direct was approached by Big Brother to provide furniture for the House.
Anita herself was the lucky owner of one of our Ball chairs, and when a friend came over to her house, she was so enthusiastic about it that the friend – who turned out to be one of the art directors for Big Brother 08 – gave us a call right away.
At Milan Direct, we really like Anita’s paintings and we wanted to share her story with you! Her style has a unique Pop Art and Retro 70's influence. It is abstract, and most pieces have quite a sexy, provocative feel. All pieces are original. They’re acrylic on canvas and have her hand-print and autograph on the back.
Originally born in Sydney, Anita has always had a deep passion for art, graduating top of her art class, and she started painting in 2001 for fun. By 2002, she had her first exhibition in West End Brisbane and started selling her art. She has since had an exhibition in Noosa and is still selling pieces privately. Everything she produces can be made to any size or colours requested and she is happy to discuss personalised requests at any time.
Dean, Milan Direct’s Founder and Managing Director, is so passionate about modern designer furniture that when he first saw Anita’s art, he decided to support this talented Aussie artist by commissioning her to make a 3-piece masterpiece for the Milan Direct offices, with the feature being our best-selling Ball Chair.
So if you're decking out your house with fabulous furniture, why not get some brilliant artwork to go with it! Check out Anita’s website at www.insceneart.com.au and let us know what you think of her art.

Thanks Keira and Julz for your support. I am so passionate about my work, and am thrilled to be able to share it with others. And with much thanks to Dean at MD, I can do more of just that. It is a great honor to be associated with someone who is just as passionate about his furniture, as I am about art.
