HISTORY:

The Barcelona Lounge Chair is a classic of 20th Century modernist furniture design by architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. It is one of the most stylish pieces of modern furniture of the 20th Century.

This model was originally designed for the Deutsche Werkbund Pavilion - International Exhibition at the World Exposition in Barcelona 1929. They were formally used by the King and Queen of Spain on their official visit to the Exposition and have since risen to become a cultural icon of modern classic furniture!

Based on the scissor-shaped chair that symbolised power in the ancient world, our Barcelona Chair, with its suave curves and attention to detail, is of a design that remains true to the perfectionist ideals of the Bauhaus movement, whilst feeling unconditionally luxurious.
